Guidance for applicants wishing to join the Sixth Form 2022

Internal Applicants

Once you have viewed your results, please indicate by 11am, via Edulink using the form, if you intend to return to Weald of Kent Grammar School to study for your A levels, having met the school entry criteria of APS 5.5.

In the event that you have not met the APS of 5.5 and wish to appeal to take up your place, please email admissions@helpdesk.cmshr.cms.lotusgossip.com to discuss next steps.

We will assume you wish to take up places in the courses you have indicated to us previously.

Any students who have not met the entrance criteria for a subject will need to contact the school at sixthformadmissions2022@helpdesk.cmshr.cms.lotusgossip.com to discuss their options.

If you would like to change your options, please email sixthformadmissions2022@helpdesk.cmshr.cms.lotusgossip.com to indicate your 3 subjects plus a reserve choice.

If you are not taking up your place, please let us know and inform us of your chosen destination.

In the event that individual courses are oversubscribed, we will rank students by average point score.  A waiting list will be in operation where necessary.

Our Year 12 Induction Day for all students will take place on Friday 2 September.

External Applicants

We would like to take the opportunity to remind you of the process that all external applicants for places in the Weald of Kent’s Sixth Form need to follow on Thursday 25 August 2022:

  1. If you have met our entry requirement of APS 5.5 and wish to be considered for a Sixth Form place at the Weald of Kent Grammar School, then you need to telephone the school on 01732 373500 by 11am on Thursday 25 August to confirm this.
  2. You will need to confirm during the telephone conversation that you have attained at least a Grade 5 in either GCSE English Language or GCSE English Literature and at least a Grade 5 in GCSE Mathematics.
  3. You will need to confirm that your average GCSE point score, which is comprised of your highest grade from either GCSE English Language or GCSE English Literature, your Mathematics GCSE grade and the next six highest grades from your GCSEs is at least 5.5.  You can work out the GCSE average point score by adding the eight grade numbers together and dividing by eight.
  4. You will be asked to confirm the three A Level subjects, plus a reserve choice, that you would like to study and you will be asked to confirm that you have met the entry requirements for each of those A Level subjects.

In the event that you have not met the APS of 5.5 and still wish to be considered, please email admissions@helpdesk.cmshr.cms.lotusgossip.com to find out the next steps.

Should the school be oversubscribed, then our Sixth Form oversubscription criteria (in line with the school’s Admissions Policy) will be applied. Offers of confirmed places in the Weald of Kent’s Sixth Form will be sent out on Friday 26 August.

In the event that individual courses are oversubscribed, we will rank students by average point score.  A waiting list will be in operation where necessary.
